Dua Lipa is an English singer and songwriter who was born on August 22 1995 within London United Kingdom. Her self-titled debut was released in 2017, after she been signed by Warner Bros Records. It peaked in at third place in the U.K. charts for albums and had eight singles, with the most notable being U.K. top-ten single New Rules and Be the One I.D.G.A.F. Lipa has been awarded the Brit Awards as a British Female solo artist and British debut act in 2018. The album was certified platinum in the world. She is the daughter of Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa Rexha and Dukagjin Lipa. Her parents are of Bosnian descent through the maternal grandparents of her. Her ancestry can be traced back to Peja, a city in Kosovo. The two grandparents of Lipa were both historians. She has a brother Gjin Lipa and a sister Rina. Lipa was influenced musically by her father, who was the guitarist and singer in the Kosovan rock group Oda. The music played by her father was at home, including songs by David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead The Police Stereophonics. Lipa started singing at the age of was five years old. When she was nine, she learned how to sing. Lipa has performed a cover of Am Not Got You as well as Beautiful from Christina Aguilera and posted it on YouTube. In 2014, Lipa has signed a deal with Warner Bros. Records. In August of 2015, her debut single New Love came out.
